Peter Stutz, Managing Director, CFA

Peter Stutz, CFA, joined Gideon Strategic Partners in 2024. He specializes in personalized strategic solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. Focusing on investment management, he employs a macro-driven approach to crafting custom portfolios for clients. 

Pete has over 25 years of institutional investment industry experience as an analyst, trader, and portfolio manager. His most recent role was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Guggenheim Partners in Santa Monica. He managed various insurance company portfolios there and was a member of the firm’s Portfolio Construction Group, creating model portfolios for core fixed income, multi-credit, and multi-asset strategies. Before Guggenheim, Pete was a Portfolio Manager at Western Asset Management in Pasadena, specializing in global interest rate and derivative strategies and overseeing U.S. inflation-linked bond portfolios. 

Pete holds a BS in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He became a CFA charter holder in 1996 and is currently President of the CFA Society of Los Angeles. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Burridge Center for Finance at the University of Colorado. 

Pete and his wife reside in Manhattan Beach and are active members of the South Bay community, volunteering with various non-profits, including those dedicated to animal rescue. They have two daughters; the elder, a graduate of CU Boulder, is following Dad’s footsteps into the financial services industry, while the younger is studying architecture at Cal Poly SLO. When not following financial markets, Pete enjoys playing golf, reading, and spending time with his family in California and Colorado.
